"the journey is more important than the destination" I've followed this advice to its deepest meaning and crafted a trip without a destination, more than a round the world flight for no specific reason but to have the longest journey possible : 40'000+ miles in 20 days, 15 flights, 15 airports, 8 countries, 3,5+ days in a plane, all by myself... This blog was used as a repository to store what I've found along my route, while not looking for something and now to store my other trip reports

The Spanish stopover
On the way back home, I planned a stopover in Barcelona. To be honest I should have watched less movies on the eastward transatlantic flight... I woke up exhausted at BCN on a bright Tuesday Morning. We hadn't left the plane when the voice on the intercom' announced that we would have to wait 45 minutes to get our luggage.
I thought it was a joke (I'm used to my small regional airport where bags are delivered within seconds you reach the bag belt...).
But it wasn't a joke... the "good" thing is that due to the waiting time in the plane and at the customs, I don't recall waiting for ages my bag...
I took the bus to downtown, my main objective was Parc Guell:

If you don't see many people there on this sunny day, it's normal... it's simply because you have to pay to be there... I guess they did it to limit the number of people so you better enjoy the view... Anyway, I've enjoyed the sun reading a book in this park, it was a really nice stopover.
I had some free time in the afternoon, and I spent it visiting an exhibition I've wanted to view since I saw it in NYC back in 2007...
To be honest, I expected more... this was nice, but it was more desigend for children, and I didn't learn a lot.
The last segment of this trip was with Easyjet, and I've always wondered why people stand up and ram to the boarding gate as soon as there is an annoucement.... and the plane hasn't even landed from its previous flight.

The Poas Volcano, finally
After watching Xmen with a fellow French tourist on the Sunday in San Jose, I came back to my first sweet night spot, for a second nigh there.
On the morning, the weather was simply gorgeous
Thus I've enjoyed a perfect timing to get nice volcano crater pictures:

The rest of the day was spent shopping (dulce de leche... yummy) before a short night in Alajuela, to take the bus at 4h30 in the morning to catch my flight.
After an exit tax fee (25USD if I remember corectly), I felt asleep quite fast as we flew toward the United States.
The connection in ATL was faster (due to automated passport control process), and I've even managed to get some free wifi (which was a challenge...)
